Field Study in Anthropology: Second Day

As part of the Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree Programme in Anthropology conducted by the Department of Humanities under the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Nagananda International Institute for Buddhist Studies, field study activities were carried out on the 1st and 2nd of November 2025 in the areas around Galle and Ambalangoda.

These field studies were organized to fulfill the practical requirements of the following course units:

  • Evolution and Human Behaviour
  • Intangible Cultural Heritage
  • Primate Behaviour, Ecology and Conservation
  • Human Ontology

On the Second day, academic field activities were conducted focusing on the following locations:

  • Ambalangoda masks and puppets
  • Seenigama devalaya
  • Thotagamuwa Ranpath vehera
