Language Studies

Sri Lanka, being an open country for the world as a tourist hub, has the potential to work with many different Language users around the world. This has led the country to accomplish its global standard in standardized Language learning with major languages such as Sinhala (for foreigners), English, French, Chinese, Korean, Japanese and so on. NIIBS, being a hub for the World’s Buddhism and cultural learning, aims to facilitate Buddhism and the diversity in Sri Lanka thereon.

Therefore, the Department of Language Studies is working with qualified Lecturers to develop the existing curriculum, based on monthly/weekly changes in the Language learning field and to find out the need that arises based on language learning for anyone in the world. Currently, the Department offers certificate and Diploma Courses in English, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Hindi, etc. and developing a B.A. (Hon.) Degree Programme in Teaching English as a Second Language.

With many TVEC-certified short courses, anyone interested can join the courses, not only to be certified but for a real Language learning experience. We, the Department of Language Studies invite all of the interested parties to join us and feel the real Language learning experience.
